These terms cover your use of this website and Buka's pre-launch services, including the WhatsApp founders list. By using the site or opting in, you accept them. When the Buka app launches, it will carry its own terms.
02What Buka is
Buka is a vertical-first micro-drama studio and streaming platform operated by Riceboy (Pty) Ltd t/a Buka, Cape Town, South Africa. Before launch, this site exists to showcase the slate, take founders opt-ins, and field partnership enquiries.
03Intellectual property
Everything on this site — the Buka name, the play-triangle mark, series titles, key art, copy and code — belongs to Riceboy (Pty) Ltd or its licensors. You may share links and use our press materials for coverage. You may not reproduce our series content, rebrand our marks, or scrape the site for commercial use without written permission.
Plain version: share it, don't steal it.
04Acceptable use
- Don't attempt to break, overload or probe the site's security.
- Don't use our channels to send spam, unlawful content or anyone else's personal information.
- Don't impersonate Buka, our people or our partners.
05Enquiries & communications
Submitting a form or sending a message starts a conversation, not a contract. All enquiries and discussions are without prejudice until formally documented and signed. If you opt in on WhatsApp, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP.
06Third-party links
The site links out to platforms like WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we're not responsible for what happens there.
07Disclaimer
This is a pre-launch site. Slate details, dates, titles and pricing may change as production develops. The site is provided "as is"; to the extent the law allows, we're not liable for losses arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act that cannot be limited.
08Digital content & access
When streaming launches, episodes will be available through the Buka app and approved channels. Access depends on your device, connection and, for paid tiers, an active subscription. We aim for the lightest possible delivery, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service on every network.
09No-refund policy
Subscription fees, once charged, are not refundable except where South African consumer law requires it. You can cancel any time and your access runs to the end of the period you've paid for. We'd rather earn next month than trap you in this one.
10Founding members
The first 1,000 founders get Volume 01 free, founders-only drops, and founder pricing of R29/month thereafter. Founder status is personal, non-transferable, and tied to the WhatsApp number you opted in with. "First thousand stay first" — your position is kept as long as you stay opted in.
11Changes
We may update these terms as the product grows. The date at the top tells you when. Material changes will be announced to the founders list before they take effect.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute connected to them.
